VEAL  Sternum (breast bone) – Australian sourced, 100% Single ingredient.

The breast bone of the cow is a relatively large, meaty Vertical bone that keeps the ribs in place. The reason that this is VEAL, is that being smaller, you don’t necessarily have to chop the treat up before feeding.

It is a NATURAL dog treat oven dried and ready to eat – ideal for medium sized dogs or larger.

That said, if your small dog loves a good chew, there is plenty of meat, bone and fat to go around here.  It just means for small tenacious dogs, it will probably last longer – or you may need to just give half of one, to keep their daily energy intake respectable.

Unlike many of our competitors, where we can we sell these more variable treats by WEIGHT. That means that you are assured of getting your values worth. Other companies can’t be bothered providing customers with sample sized treat bags, but we go the extra distance and provide all of the way down to 300g lots.

IN the photos of this product, we aim to show the general shape, and some of the variation between sternums. That said, the length of the treats often range between 15-25cm while the wide can be 5 to 10 cm, and the thickness anywhere between 3 to 6 cm.  These dimensions will vary with harvest, and of course due to the natural triangular whole shape of the treat, they are just a very rough guide.

What are Beef chest bones (sternum) good for?

For most dogs this is a relatively long chew.  Not so for big super hungry hounds, but for small to medium dogs, they are a very special feast.

Like dog training treats, restricting access to these (because the relatively high fat content provides good Kilojoules) – is typically a good idea. Perhaps think of it this way. Many people like a big beef ribs meal, but the high protein and fat can make them feel full for quite a while and if you made all of your meals out of them, you would gain weight, right?  And that is the case for dogs eating veal sternums.  They taste amazing, but we recommend moderation unless your dog is big or very high energy.

Dogs typically attack the treat very zealously, because being carnivore based, dogs can really appreciate MEAT, fat and bone, and of course these treats have all three, in one WHOLE package.  Not ground down and reassembled so you don’t know what you are getting. The whole nature of these treats also means that they give your dog a puzzle to solve, make them think about their attack.

VEAL Breast bones and DENTAL HEALTH

Having a medium sized, relatively soft bone in the centre of this treat is also very good for NATURAL teeth cleaning. They will also strengthen their jaw muscles and provide endorphins by way of their natural primal association with the long-ago hunt.

Apart from keeping the teeth clean, these also promote healthier gums, stronger teeth, and fresher breath. The lack of carbs, means that there is no sugar to deposit on the teeth and cause tooth decay bacteria.

While meat is medium ingredient in this total WHOLE sternum treat, it does provide a high level of quality protein. Near 60%!

It also has a good level of glucosamine and chondroitin that provide JOINT SUPPORT, muscle growth, and overall vitality. Note the chondroitin is not at the same level as shark cartilage sticks, but its natural formation, like the meat, is highly bio-available, so can easily be accessed by your dog’s body.

Any joint support Natural chemicals in a dogs treat (not a lab based supplement – is a very welcome bonus) !

This whole treat, with its firm but not HARD texture, means it safer for all dogs to chew on, than smaller dogs trying to eat load bearing bones.
