It includes glucosamine and added salmon oil to take care of their growing bones and joints (glucosamine), and brain and heart functions (Omega 3’s).

This kibble includes probiotics (for balanced gut microflora) and prebiotics to support the good gut and intestine bacteria populations.

The reason that this formula is acceptable for puppy development is that it exceeds the minimum protein and crude fat requirements for “Growth (PUPPY) & Reproduction” Minimums. Namely aafco require puppies to have a minimum protein of 22.5%  (this kibble has 30%),  and a minimum crude fat of 8.5% (this Puppy kibble has 15% fat).

Calcium and Phosphorous are also important for growing bodies and this kibble has calcium at 1.5% (above aafco 1.2% requirement), and Phosphorous of 1.5% (greater than aafco 1% min).  The ratio is also 1:1 (the ideal ratio for dog nutrition).
